Hello Tim and Deanna!

Finally, I can reach you!!! I contacted Frantic Films to get an address. This seems like a one-sided conversation, 'cause I know you but you don't know me. I am 56 years old, mother of 3 grown sons, and grandmother of 7 wonderful grandkids. And I am a Christian. I live in a rural area of the Eastern Townships of Quebec. My early time here was something akin to Pioneer Quest........lugging water, no indoor toilet, no telephone, few friends.

Ever since I first watched Pioneer Quest, I have wanted to write to you and express my joy and appreciation of the show. I watched the 8 episodes on the History channel first, then again on Life, and taped them. Now, when I want to step back and get a feel for a simpler life, I put in my tapes and spend the day with you. Pioneer Quest provides me with a glimpse into earlier times......the quietness of the country, the plain fare for meals, the required self-sufficiency. And it shows what is important in life.

Deanna, I am so proud of you! When you and Alana had a difference of opinion, you refused to divulge the issue. That reminded me of a Bible study teacher that taught about gossip. She said we should always ask ourselves, "Is it true, is it nice, is it necessary?" before we share things. What a good example of this you showed. Thank you.

And thank you, Deanna, for explaining to all of us why you decided to become a Pioneer. To allow Tim to experience a dream, and not squelch it is a wonderful example of what God wants in marriage.

Tim, I am so proud of you! Every meal, you quietly talked with your Father, simply and with your heart. At every turn, you would share your dependence on God and His provision for safety and wisdom. What a strong example of relying on Him! Thank you.

One segment of the show gives me a spiritual connection with you........a oneness. You are both in the cabin one evening, Tim is playing guitar, the lighting is soft and you are singing in Portugese......."Master, Savior, Jesus"..............I can't remember the title or all the words in English, but I sing along and my hands raise in praise. We are 3 Christians praising God! A spine shivering blessing!

I do have one question of curiosity. After your 3 sons have visited, and they show your family walking down the path, there are 6 people leaving, not 5. Who is the sixth person?

I missed your recent interview on 100 Huntley Street. But I understand, Tim, you are writing a book. I can't wait to read it!

Thank you so much for sharing your lives with me. Thank you for all it took to be Pioneers. When I watched the beginning of Quest for the Bay, I spotted Frank and Alana in the crowd. That was exciting. But when I get to Heaven, be sure that I will be looking for both of you!

Sincerely,
Jane
