The pioneers suffered through the wettest summer in 40 years and the coldest December in 120 years. Tim suffered a near-death illness, but in the end they survived for a year and History Television had nine one-hour episodes of one of the most successful Canadian shows ever created. Their story is a riveting one, captivating and motivates the listener to go on their own quest to becoming a pioneer.

Tim and Deanna Treadway were married and 1973 after meeting at Providence College Manitoba. They moved to Vernon B.C. where Tim earned his pilot's license. After, they traveled down to Manaus, Brazil to build a duplex and experience jungle aviation . Deanna was involved teaching in the missionary school. With the project complete, they returned to Kenora Ontario where Tim joined his father in the construction company building homes. Deanna became a dental assistant.

In the next few years they had three sons Daniel, Daryl and David. As a family, they became world travelers, working and living in Malaysia, Spain, Bonaire, Venezuela, Philippines and Thailand. Their boys caught this spirit of adventure and live life to the fullest. Each year Tim & Deanna took the boys skiing in the B.c. Rockies and they have all become Professional Extreme Skiers. Check out their websites! Dan spends 6 months skiing & sledding (snowmobiling) at Whistler B.C. and 6 months in Kenora where he lives in a remote cabin on an island. Contruction on Lake of the Woods supports his summer activities of boating, skiing and fishing. Daryl also resides near Whistler B.C. skiing & sledding as a Pro. He has his teaching certificate which gives him the flexibility to support his lifestyle on the slopes. During the summer he does contruction in B.C. David followed his two older brothers "ski tracks" and loves the mountains. Summers find him teaching wake boarding and directing summer camps for kids in B.C. All the family unites at Thanksgiving for their annual hunt in Kenora. There Momma Treadway cooks up a fantastic turkey feast with all the trimmings on a little wood stove. There is a saying that goes "a wasted life is not to have died young but to have died old and not lived." This family knows how to live life to the max!!
